Hawaii Sunset Weddings

A Beautiful Sunset Wedding in Hawaii

sunset wedding

Hawaii is undoubtedly one of the best places on our planet to have a sunset wedding. First of all, because our Hawaiian skies are virtually pollution free, people travel here from all over the world just to view the purely unobscured stellar bodies in our heavens. Secondly, to view the sun physically setting, you must be on a western shore as the sun always rises in the east and sets in the west. Our Hawaiian islands are relatively small so it’s never a very long drive to reach our western shores.

Breathtaking Hawaiian Sunset Weddings

Capt. Howie’s “pick location” for a Hawaii Sunset Wedding is Pirates Cove on Oahu’s north-western shore. Pirates Cove is a secluded and pristine tropical oasis with a beautiful white sandy beach, punctuated with waves crashing dramatically into mammoth lava rock formations.

We like to start our photo sessions about 1 ½ hours before sunset. This gives us ample time to capture many breathtaking daytime photographs with the rich colors of our deep blue ocean and powdery blue sky. The second half of our photo session takes place at sunset when the spectacular yet drastic change of colors and mood occurs. This strategy allows us to get lots of variety in our photographs.

Hawaii Sunset Wedding Poses

Typically, we perform our wedding ceremonies before the actual setting of the sun. This allows us to get the most artistic photographs of our couple interacting with our brilliant orange Hawaiian sun when it begins going to sleep and dropping gracefully into our majestic ocean. A few examples of such spectacular “Hawaii Beach Wedding” shots would be:

• A kissing silhouette, shot directly into the setting sun.

• Our couple toasting their glasses to each other with the setting sun in the background.

• Shooting our couple from the back, as they hold hands watching the Hawaiian sun drop elegantly into the Pacific ocean.

Without a doubt, Hawaii Sunset Weddings are very popular and are in a world all of their own.
